Lesson 5: Converting Degrees to Radians
Standard Addressed
MCC9-12.F.TF.1 Understand radian measure of an angle as the length of the arc on the unit circle subtended by the angle.
Brief Lesson Overview
This activity allows students to use basic math to derive the relationship between degrees and radians. Students should be able to work through this activity in a class period. Students should be allowed to begin working on their own and then they can work in pairs or groups so they can discuss their findings with their classmates. After the activity has been completed and misconceptions have been cleared up redirect students to the Unit Circle they created in Lesson 4 and have them add the radian measures to their unit circles for homework.
